A sign from my garden that things are slowly warming up. These Daffodil bulbs were planted in April. They came from a Tasmanian grower that I met at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. They are a really hearty bunch by the looks of it. If you look closely there is a garlic pretending to be a Daffodil. Came up in line with the others!

My West German pottery Collection
Hello! I almost forgot to tell you that I wrote a guest post over at Anastasia’s Drawing and Dreaming blog while she is having a holiday. It is all about choosing vintage for your home, and collecting and the like. It went live yesterday and here is the link.

A new Happy Birthday garland in pretty rainbow colours is now available in the shop. I am really proud of this one; it took 5 rummages through my paper pile, two trips to the paper shop, a lot of switching and swapping of colours and an afternoon of photographing. I am pretty sure that I have it right now.
I just couldn’t leave them there. On the back of a dusty shelf where nobody wanted them. I do not agree with catching butterflies from Malaysian tropical jungles (their origin) and then selling them to tourists – some of these are so magnificent that I am sure they could fall into the rare category. I would never buy such a thing new from a market in Asia. I do think it is ok to rescue such specimens from second hand shops and put them on display somewhere special in your home. To be appreciated for their natural beauty and their rarity. What do you think?

Yes. Me. Tomorrow. Everything is good. I am so happy living my crafty life, with 3 very nice children and a sweet husband. Life couldn’t be better really. I have been feeling quite out of sorts the last few weeks, we lost my favourite Aunty Wendy to dementia and eventual liver failure on 30 June. I have so many great memories of my aunty, Wendy was an animal lover and kept a whole menagerie over the years – think chooks, greyhounds, cats, dogs all in inner city Sydney would you believe? Although Wendy and her husband had no children, their home was a haven for many nephews and nieces who came to stay a while. It was a magical place to visit. I am holding on tight to these memories right now, and helping my dear Mum through this hard time as they were very close sisters.
Tomorrow we are having sandwiches for lunch here at home and a delicious cake from New York patisserie in Caringbah with my family. The kids picked a chocolate mousse cake. It looks amazing. We are also going to go out for dinner and trying Brazilian BBQ. And next weekend all of my school girlfriends are coming for dinner. Yay. Hippy Birdy to me………

Today I updated the Tivoli Vintage shop. I also found some more vintage things and popped them in the wash. Lots of pretty linen tea towels. And a crocheted tablecloth (wait til you see it!). It was nice to have a day to potter and take photos and eat soup for lunch. I also wanted to tell you that I have been to Daylesford, Vic with Miss KD, who has some photos on her blog over here (she has the best camera). Kristen was a Designer at the Threadneedle Daylesford Craft Experience and well, I just tagged along and had a blast. I did so many great things!! I met Belinda from Moonmum in person at the maker’s market. She was lovely of course. I visited the Lark shop, though Allisson was sadly sick. Paul, Allisson’s husband did a super job serving us all champagne while we shopped and chatted! I do think Lark IS possibly the sweetest shop in the world. I was lucky enough to stay at the Peppers Hepburn Springs Resort, enough said, it was amazing. On the Sunday I joined in the Craft Experience and stitched and talked and ate a delicious lunch. Yep, that’s where I have been!

Something for me! On the weekend my lovely Mum came over for a visit. Master Viking was at a friend’s place, the girls were pottering and Mister Viking went to Bunnings for 2 hours, so it was the perfect time to do some crafting for me. I covered one of those Kaisercraft mdf storage boxes and it was lots of fun. Firstly, I glued all of the little cardboard boxes together. Then I painted all of the wooden pieces in a brownish colour that I mixed up from acrylics that I had left over from Claudine Hellmuth’s collage technique course that I took last year. Once dry (and it dried very quickly), I took to the pieces with some fine sandpaper and really roughed up the edges to give the framework a used, vintage feel. Next, I slotted the pieces back together. Simple. Then I hit my paper collection and chose pinky/reds, teal blues and mustard yellows (probably my 3 favourite colours) and used the box front as a template to trace out a front cover. I glued these onto the little boxes and added a brad as a little feature by punching a hole with a skewer through the cardboard. I am really happy with the result. It is for storing crafty bits and pieces. It would also be good for storing girl’s things, like hair ties and pins, and school ties and lip glosses.

I like the cooler months. More time to get back into things and get cozy. Seems I have picked up the blogging bug again, and I have also picked up the hoop. Just in time to join this month’s Creative Collective project. It is all about embroidery and hoops! My embroidery is a cross stitched Christmas Shepherdess, a stocking for Miss Viking that I have promised to deliver for a little while now. Master Viking has a stocking, so now it is time to work down the line. One day I will post about Master Viking’s stocking, it is very lovely, and did you know once you finish your stitching you can send it up to this fabulous shop and a lovely lady will make it up for you! Grand.

Not the name of the latest children’s brand (though it would be a cutie and could possibly already exist) – it is a custom wedding banner that is heading to NY (that would be New York). I love what I do.
Look at this great place? It was found via a friend of a friend’s Facebook page. Can anyone help me to find out where this is? Elevates ‘love of caravans’ to a whole new level doesn’t it? And the recycling has to be commended. Swoon.
