Guest Post – Anastasia Drawing and Dreaming.

My West German pottery Collection

My West German pottery Collection

Hello!  I almost forgot to tell you that I wrote a guest post over at Anastasia’s Drawing and Dreaming blog while she is having a holiday.  It is all about choosing vintage for your home, and collecting and the like.  It went live yesterday and here is the link.

Vintage.

2011_06_07

Today I updated the Tivoli Vintage shop.  I also found some more vintage things and popped them in the wash.  Lots of pretty linen tea towels.  And a crocheted tablecloth (wait til you see it!).  It was nice to have a day to potter and take photos and eat soup for lunch.  I also wanted to tell you that I have been to Daylesford, Vic with Miss KD, who has some photos on her blog over here (she has the best camera).  Kristen was a Designer at the Threadneedle Daylesford Craft Experience and well, I just tagged along and had a blast.  I did so many great things!!  I met Belinda from Moonmum in person at the maker’s market.  She was lovely of course.  I visited the Lark shop, though Allisson was sadly sick.  Paul, Allisson’s husband did a super job serving us all champagne while we shopped and chatted!  I do think Lark IS possibly the sweetest shop in the world.  I was lucky enough to stay at the Peppers Hepburn Springs Resort, enough said, it was amazing.  On the Sunday I joined in the Craft Experience and stitched and talked and ate a delicious lunch.  Yep, that’s where I have been!

Tivoli Vintage Update!

2011_03_23

I have spent the morning updating the Vintage Shop with some sweet finds and doing an enormous amount of washing after the rain we have had in Sydney this past week.  Some have had too much rain, and it is flooding again, and that is bad.  I hope that you are dry, where ever you are.  Do you know I almost couldn’t list the Dutch tile you see up there, I loved it when I found it and I still love it so.

A distraction.

What did I do to distract myself from worrying if Little Miss Viking was ‘coping’ on her first day of school?  I cleaned and polished this lovely little bookshelf that I rescued from my local Op Shop.  I asked the fellow how old he thought it might be and he said ‘the 40’s’, though I discovered a nice hand scrawled date of 19.5.1953 on the back along with a sticker saying it ‘proudly conformed to Australian Furniture Maker’s Standards’ of the time.  What do you think?  It’s nice huh?  And the girls love it.

To the right is the bed I almost had heart failure over bidding on on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.  Does anyone else find Ebay stressful?  I am a last minute bidder - is this your tactic too?  Pick-up was in my very own suburb, so it was a win-win really!  The girls’ doona covers are from Ikea, discontinued model now I think.  And I don’t know if you can see them, I have popped the girls’ collection of Barbapapa books up along with my favourite Dr Suess book – ‘Summer’, written by Alice Low and illustrated by Roy McKie – so colourful is this book, and summery!

Little Miss Viking is settling in nicely at school and I am ok.  I should have lots of new vintage goodness up next week, and I am planning a little makeover for the Paperklip shop. Have a super weekend.

The day the Thrift Gods shone down.

I know.  I could hardly speak either.  The gold twinkled at me.  I went forth.  The label read Fleur Wood.  I tucked it gently under my arm and headed for the counter.  The salt container.  Craft Group thought  it would be great for catching paper scraps and I agree.  And the port wine glasses.  Perfect for the once a year Boxing Day herring and scnapps lunch we like to have.  The picture.  The Viking just shook his head at it.  I just loved it.  So it will stay.

Thank you thrift gods.

Thrifting, mail and off to Sweden (not me!)

Today the small vikings and I did our rounds and we had some great surprises.  At the post box we collected a package and inside was this:  the sweetest card and a Happiness Kit from Kelly at Little Bubble and Tree.  It was a Thank You for a great time at Magnolia Square.  Thank you Kelly, your card will go on my pin board of ’special cards’ and I really need the marble cause sometimes I do think I’m losing mine.

Next on our rounds we called into the local St Vincent De Pauls (op shop/thrift shop) and found a cracking summer skirt for $6 and a collection of great Madeline videos.  I may be the only person left who has a video player.  We also met Mr Shepherd, Miss D’s Kindergarten teacher who was fossicking for crystal things for his daughter.  Miss D couldn’t wait to tell him she had had a Shepherd’s Pie for dinner.  Then we passed up a Chartruese velvet bedroom chair.  The Viking would die.

Finally I wanted to share a pretty name ‘Josefin’ – flying off to my dear friend Kim in Stockholm.  It is one of two for her friend who has just had twin girls (Matilda not pictured).  Enjoy your weekend everyone.
