Mathilda’s Snow Clouds.

Completely working backwards here friends.  This is the garland I made for last Sunday’s Mathilda’s Market.  It was a fantastic morning and a great turn out for such a frosty yet thankfully sunny day.  I am just about to list these pretties in the shop as a OOAK (that’s ‘one of a kind’ for those like me that took a year to figure out the meaning while searching Etsy:)  I have a little news on the Vintage Shop in the next few days – oopps, did I just let that slip??

It has been a while since I went to market.  I am really looking forward to it.  Come and say hello this Sunday if you are in the area.  I also have an update on Von Treight furniture (thanks Sarah).  I have posted it in a comment under Retro Heaven.

Finders Keepers for me.

I am making like a mad woman.  Today it’s tape bunting.  And dot cards.  I am so excited about exhibiting at Finders Keepers for the first time.  Seriously happy.  Rainbow happy.  I am sharing with this cool gal.  This other cool gal is going to be there too.  Go Craft Group.

Don’t forget!

Mathilda’s Market Lane Cove

It is just over a week until Mathilda’s Market is on again at Lane Cove, Sydney.  I have been working on a few decorations for the entry – here is a sneek peek.  What do you think?   The gold circle needs to be smaller, is what I think.

The Stitches and Craft Show.

A long post.  Hang in there with me because it’s a good one.  I was approached by Corrie from Retromummy and asked if I wanted to be a teacher on the Notebook magazine’s Paper Craft Bar at the up and coming Stitches and Craft Show in Sydney.  Me?  Are you sure you have the right person?  I am not a scrapbooker, not an artist – kind of somewhere in between and I was a little apprehensive re: my teaching skills to date – nil.  ‘Submit 2 projects to Notebook Melinda and see how you go’.  They were both accepted.  I’m on my way!

So if you would like to come along and learn how to make either Project 1 – a crafty bird collage, or Project 2 – a sweet vintage inspired garland the details are here.  Note the new venue is the Australian Technology Park at Alexandria, NSW.  I will be teaching in person at the Craft bar on Thursday 15th April, 2010.  I believe you can turn up any day and create one of six different projects – how super is that?

I really enjoyed creating 2 unique projects for Notebook.  It was a challenge that made me think a little harder, create a little better. I approached it with a ‘use what you have’ attitude and found scraps and things lying in wait around my work room, waiting to become.  This is something I hope to spread the word about while teaching – buy less, use more of what you have, maybe in a different way to which you are used to.

I am smitten with my bird, and I have decided to make a series.  I loved following artist Ann Wood’s journey where she created 100 decorative horses – one a day for a period of time.  She hoped that it would kick start some new ideas, helping her out of the creative rut that can affect everyone from time to time.  Somedays she struggled, some were gems, althought the result must have been rewarding to say the least.  See her horses here.

Anyways, I don’t know if I could produce a bird a day for 100 days, but I will list one in the Etsy shop once a week.  They will be indiviually numbered and named.  I like naming things.  Who wants to be nameless?  Not me.

This Sunday I am taking a road trip with Helen to Canberra to the fabulous Handmade Market.  There is a lovely new venue, there will be some fabulous stalls and I will have a few new things on the Paperklip stand.  Come and have a look if you are down that way.  I hope Helen likes Boney M because that is what I am playing on the way down.

Mathilda's Sydney

Hello sweet peeps.  This weekend we will be down in Canberra.  Yay.  Paperklip will be having a stall at the Mathilda’s market on Sunday at  the Park Hyatt, Commonwealth Avenue, Canberra from 9am til 1pm.  Do come along if you are in town – entry is free.
The Viking is taking the little vikings to Questacon, a fabulous hands-on Science Museum.  It’s awesome.  I would also like to squeeze a visit in to the National Gallery to see the Masterpieces from Paris exhibition.  Do you think the Vikings will enjoy that??  They have never tried it so we will see.
Oh, and the following Saturday I will be popping up at Paddington Town Hall in Sydney to do a spot of decorating and stallholding.  Details above.
Have a lovely weekend whatever you are up to.

Do you like them?  I do.  These little onesies are a special collaboration with Details, details!  Perfect for a Baby Shower, Christening or even a 1st Birthday.  You can find them on their web-site or you can visit Siobhan and Vanessa at Mathilda’s Market this Saturday if you are in the Brisbane area.  The girls will be doing a spot of decorating at the market and will have lots of lovely party things on their stall.  Say hello from me!
