Mathilda’s at Paddington Town Hall.

Mathildaspaddington

Hi there lovelies.  I will be at Paddington Town Hall this Saturday.  With lots of my pretty garlands, the sweetest prints from Lilymoon, some goodies from June Craft too.  I hope you can come by and say hello.  Did I tell you that my Mum used to dance her socks off at Paddington Town Hall every Saturday night?  And she lived down the road in Underwood Street for 15 years?  She would always point the Town Hall out as we caught the bus along Oxford Street on the way to visit her lovely friend Margaret, when I was little.  I remember asking her if she was sure she knew where were going – and she always did know where we were going.  Mum is 78 and she still does know exactly where she is going.  Go Mum.

Craft Group.

I have emerged from the making of things to meet up with lovely Craft Group.  Lisa made the yummiest cinnamon scrolls and she worked on a pretty quilt for her new baby.  Kristen sewed and stuffed 3 fine little bears and I made a couple of felt pebble necklaces for the up and coming markets.  We discussed a very important and awesome matter, which I will share more with you soon.  I’ll give you a hint – it has something to do with the words ‘pop-up’.

The trick is to keep breathing.

I am still here.  I just have 3 big, big orders on right now.  I am also working on some Christmas things and making and seeking out some lovely market stall things for the up coming Mathilda’s Market on Oct 30 and then Magnolia Square in November.  The spot-on Gilcee print above from Etsy seller Farouche sums up how I feel right now.  Things should be a bit more relaxed next week.  How are you doing right now?

Vintage love.

Last week it was school holidays. We went to visit my Mum and Dad.  And had a look in an op-shop or 2. I almost passed the above over because the plastic bag was stained, though decided to give it a little chance.  We brought it home, sent it through the washing machine, dried it for 2 days on the line and turns out it was in perfect condition.  Miss 6 has slept in it on top of her bed for the last week!  It is a vintage Happy Sac sleeping bag, covered in a very 1970’s Holly Hobbie type print.  Did you have a Happy Sac?  They were made in Australia in the 70’s.  I didn’t.  My sleeping bag was army green, zipped up the front and had a really annoying hood, that didn’t come off.  My friend had this one.  I love that you can use your own pillow with a Happy Sac. So cozy. My friend also had a Barbie campervan which we played with all the time.  I had an Etcha-sketch.

Etsy friday Finds – sort of.

I have had these 2 super lovely books on order for a little while, and they were in my post box yesterday.  Yippee.  Paper + Craft is written by Minhee and Truman Cho who have a beautiful stationery business called Paper + Cup in the US.  There are many fantastic and simple papercrafting ideas inside, I am definately going to attempt an old-fashioned paper frame.  All of the ideas are open for your own interpretation too, which I like.  I also took this photo with the book’s inside cover open, there is a beautiful pop of pink inside.

The second book is called Fanciful Felties and it is full of projects by Etsy seller mummysam, aka Samantha Cotterill.  I first noticed one of Sam’s projects in Little Birds, her work has a lovely naiviety about it and her softies are so quirky.  Sam also has a cute range of fabric based on her illustrations.  I am thinking of adapting one of Sam’s softies for the Spring Creative Collective project.

Have a great day.

Do not be alarmed – two posts in one day.  I just wanted to say that Paperklip garlands were featured yesterday on the fabulous American Brooklyn Bride blog under top 10 garlands.  Thank you so much Vane for this honour.

PS – The garland above is coming soon!

Creative Collective – an invite to you.

CC Project Spring[1]

Hello, hello.  Just popping in to tell you about a group of creative ladies that I have joined up with.  We are the Creative Collective, a super nice group of bloggers/crafts people who are (hopefully) going to inspire you into some making.  Once a month we will have a theme, the idea is to join in and make something with us, take a photo and post it to the Flicker Group or the Facebook page that Amanda over at Calico & Co. has very kindly set up for us. At the end of the month, we each choose 5 projects that we think are lovely and spot on for the theme.  There could be a prize badge (just thought of that!).

This month’s theme is Spring.  It runs from now until October 31.  Think blossoms, peas, sandals, trampolines!  You can use any materials that you like.  I am going to try to use what I have, rather than going out to buy more craft materials, and I encourage you to do that too.  It is going to be lots of fun.  Amanda has a button for you too, to add to your blog if you have one and are joining in.

Happy making, I hope that you will have a go!
